Our Curriculum
What do we want for our children?
By the time our Year 6 children graduate from Neville Bonner Primary, we want them to be developed as curious, engaged and passionate learners, who value and understand diversity. We want them to be kind, respectful and compassionate people who have a developing understanding of the ways in which they can contribute to making our world a better and more sustainable place. We want them to be growing as independent and resilient learners who have begun to recognise and foster their own talents and strengths. We want them to have an understanding of, and connection to ‘place’, demonstrating a deep understanding of and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
Neville Bonner Primary curriculum encompasses everything that we plan for and do, from Preschool to Year 6, in order to achieve both our goals for the children and their own goals, by the time they graduate at the end of Year 6. Goals are inextricably linked to the standards of achievement outlined at each level of learning in all learning areas of the Australian Curriculum.
A strong pedagogical framework, in conjunction with the Australian Curriculum (K-Yr 6) and the Early Years Learning Framework (Preschool) form the basis for successful teaching and learning at Neville Bonner Primary.
Our curriculum is customised to make visible the school belief that children’s identities should be reflected in their learning and that the identity of the school itself is pivotal to the connectedness of our learners.
